United Bretheren in Christ

The past two Sundays, I have attended the same United Bretheren church. Again, I didn't see too many differences between it and my own denomination. I think it reminded ne more of my old church instead if the one I attend now. One difference - this church was crawling with kids. I'm not sure I've seen so many kids at one church! The service began with prayer and several worship songs, led by several people and accompianied by guitar and drums. Then there was an offeretory, which both Sundays was special music. They also each Sunday had someone come up either to do a monolgue that went with the sermon or to share testimony. The first Sunday I attended the message was about the lesson of the rich young ruler, and the second Sunday was on Jesus's teaching on children. This church seems to have a lot of programs, geared toward just about every age group. I felt welcomed, and liked the overall atmosphere of the worship.

Christian

Sorry it's taken awhile for me to post this. Things got a little busy. The second Sunday of my being here in Huntington, I went to a church called Stillwater. It's a Christian church on the second floor of a coffee shop. Almost everyone there was a college student. A few students led some praise and worship songs and then a younger man gave a powerful sermon. I found the atmosphere interesting. It was very relaxed but very worshipful. People sat in folding chairs or on the floor. Definitely not your typical church, but overall a rather enjoyable experience.

Nazarene

Okay! The journey begins. This morning I attended a Nazarene church. I'll have to do some research on the difference between United Methodist and Nazarene, but I didn't feel much of a difference. In fact, I felt quite at home. We sang several upbeat worship songs to the accomp. of drums, guitars, piano, and keyboard. Words appeared on two large screens at the front. There was a beautiful piano offeratory - there's one difference- we didn't sing a doxology. A woman sang a beautiful solo, and the pastor delivered a very good message. He talked about the lessons Titus, Luke's little brother, learned while in Crete, a dispicable place. Titus learned to trust in the Lord in a spectacular way through his trials with the people of Crete. We all must learn to walk through the valley with Christ and in doing so we draw nearer to Him! As for this particular church, I saw all ages, from the very young to the old. They seemed to be very missions oreinted and like they're growing. It was a very large church, but similar to my home church felt like people really knew each other. My friends and I were greeted with open arms, and one couple even took the time to show us where all of the Sunday School rooms were and which one was the college class and just around the place in general. My friends and I felt very welcome and felt very touched by the message. I hope God leads us to another spirit filled place next Sunday! Fly with Christ!
